Sober coaching
Effective 1-1 support for lasting sobriety
Sober coaching is a forward-facing partnership designed for those who are ready to change their relationship with alcohol but have found that standard recovery models don't stick. If you have tried everything and feel like you will never get the change you want and need – it is often because a practical strategy was missing.
As a registered mental health coach and HCANZA member with a 30-year background as a health journalist, I bring a clinical yet deeply practical lens to your recovery. I have walked this path myself for 11 years and I know that lasting sobriety requires more than just willpower – it requires intense support robust, evidence-based strategies.
How sober coaching works
Unlike traditional therapy, coaching is action-oriented. We don't just talk about the struggle; we build the solution.
-
Breaking the cycle – We move fast to address the immediate habits and physiological triggers that keep you stuck.
-
The strategic lens – We look at your lifestyle as a whole, identifying the environmental and emotional cues that lead to reaching for a drink.
-
Evidence-based tools – Using lifestyle medicine and mindfulness, we build a toolkit that fits your real life and professional responsibilities.
-
Accountability – This is often the missing piece to staying sober.
Case study: A path to change
One of my clients had spent years in a cycle of "trying to stop" only to find themselves back at square one every few months. By shifting our focus from "abstinence only" to a comprehensive strategy of lifestyle medicine and nervous system regulation, they were able to break the 90–day barrier for the first time in a decade.
